Universal Children’s Day

(ZIZ) St. Kitts Nevis along with the rest of the world celebrated universal children’s day Wednesday 20th 2013.

The day is used as a time to promote international togetherness and awareness among children worldwide under the guidance of UNICEF- United Nations Children’s Fund.

This day is twined with World Day of Prayer and Action for children to engage the religious community to help appeal to the public and bring awareness of the violence that children sustain daily.

Director of probation and child protection services Debra Matthew says they are asking all denominations island wide to observe this command during their service on November 24th.   There have also been several activities throughout the week.

St. Kitts and Nevis ratified the convention on the rights of the child on July 24th 1990, committing itself to developing a protective creative environment for children.
