U.S Praises St Kitts Crime Fighting Initiatives

The U.S. State Department has praised initiatives put in place by the local police force as part of the Caribbean Basin Security Initiative.

Commissioner Celvin Walwyn recently returned from a meeting with State Department Representatives who he said placed St. Kitts on a pedestal for the use of recently donated equipment including high speed boats.

He said, “We are, I don’t want to say the only country, but one of the countries that has used the equipment for what they were intended and have placed initiatives in place to maintain the programmes.”

Commissioner Walwyn says training plays an equally important part and the force intends to continue projects to build capacity among the officers, particularly the younger recruits.
