Souvin Ritchen Found Guilty of Murder

Thirty-year-old Souvin Ritchen, who is from Shadwell but lived at Durant Avenue, was found guilty of murder by a majority of the jury at the end of his trial at the high court on Tuesday.

Ritchin was indicted on August 26 2015 for the murder of nineteen-year-old Rakeim Hanley of Fort Thomas Road, Basseterre. According to media reports on August 25 2015 Hanley was shot while riding a bicycle along Fort Thomas Road and died several hours after at the JNF hospital.

The judge ordered the preparation of a social inquiry report and Ritchen was remanded to her majesty’s prison until January 25 2019, when sentencing is set to take place.
