Rotary Cruise For Charity
(ZIZ News) — On Sunday, the Rotary Club of St. Kitts continued fundraising efforts for autism awareness by facilitating a “Cruise for Charity”.
About 150 persons signed up to travel along the Caribbean coast of St. Kitts on the party boat “Prince Devonte J”.
The proceeds of the event will be contributed to a school that works with autistic children.
ZIZ News caught up with President of the Rotary Club of St. Kitts, Patricia Mourillon who explained what the group hopes to accomplish.
“This month is the month of autism and so we’re trying to bring awareness to everyone. This cruise, we call it the ‘Cruise for Charity’, the proceeds would go to the Cotton-Thomas Comprehensive School where we will donate motor skills equipment, and train the teachers to deal with children with special needs,” she said.
Mourillon said this is the Rotary Club of St. Kitts’ way of showing its commitment to autism awareness.
She added that the high turnout to the fundraiser proves that the wider community is also willing to lend a helping hand to autistic children.
“They always say at the school that people forget them and so we want to show them that we care. As you see, we have close to 150 people who are participating in the event,” she said.
