Rotarians serve the elderly

ZIZ News—17th September, 2013–Members of the Rotary Club of Liamuiga used the National Heroes Day on Monday to serve lunch to senior citizens at the Saddlers Home for the elderly.

Members of The Rotary Club of Liamuiga have been serving the communities of St. Kitts and Nevis for about a decade but on Monday, they continued a long tradition of serving lunch to residents of the Saddlers Home for the elderly.

This initiative was started in 2004.

President of the Rotary Club of Liamuiga, Valentine Hodge explains why they continue this activity each year.

Minister of Social and Community Development, Hon Marcella Liburd commended the club for recognizing the importance of reaching out to the elderly.

The senior home care officer at the Saddlers home for the elderly thanked the Rotarians for their continued support and kindness.

But the Rotarians didn’t stop with the serving of lunch.

They also donated a flat screen television and a microwave to the home.
