No COVID-19 Cases From CPL Says Medical Chief Of Staff
The recently concluded Caribbean Premier League (CPL), which was hosted in St. Kitts, at the Warner Park Stadium, has come in for high praises, from top medical officials in St. Kitts and Nevis.
“I want to say that the CPL was very successful. The patrons were there…they were vaccinated and I think that the tiny islands of St. Kitts and Nevis demonstrated to the world, how we can have mass events in the new norm,” said the Medical Chief of staff, of the Joseph N France General Hospital, Dr. Cameron Wilkinson.
Dr. Wilkinson was at the time responding to questions at the monthly press conference of Prime Minister Dr. Timothy Harris, held on Tuesday 28th September 2021.
The entire Hero CPL tournament, with six franchise teams, was hosted from 26th August to 15th September, featuring 33 games, including the semifinals and the finals.
In the end, CPL came and went without adding even one extra case, originating from the matches played at Warner Park.
This was only the second time that this was done, where all matches were played at one location.
At the end of the tournament, the local franchise St. Kitts and Nevis Patriots, emerged as champions for the first time, since entering the league in 2015.
