Kiddies Festival A Huge Hit

(Sports Page) The Department of Sports on Nevis coordinated a Kiddies Festival at various Primary Schools across the island, during the course of last week.

Football Coach at the Department, Leroy JUN-JUN Sweeney, explained that it was referred to as a FORMULA ONE course and was basically used to prepare the children for their upcoming sporting activities. These include: Football, Cricket and Athletics.

Some of the activities organized by the various Coaches included: Skipping; short sprints; basic Football Drills under the guidance of Dequan ZGGY Newton and basic Cricket drills coordinated by Tonito Willet.

The sessions also involved the jumping of hurdles; running between cones and poles which were strategically placed so as to test the ability of the young athletes.

All of the children interviewed indicated that the sessions were not only fun but beneficial to their overall development/

The individuals in charge of the children included various Coaches from the Department of Sports and several volunteers.
