First Rescue Swimmer Course to Be Formulated for the Coast Guard

Lieutenant Commander Reshap

A Rescue Swimmer Course for the Coast Guard will be developed using the information gathered during training sessions between the rescue services and the USNS Comfort for the enhancement of emergency lifesaving skills.

That’s according to Captain Kenish Garnette of the St. Kitts Nevis Defence Force Coast Guard who spoke with ZIZ during the demonstration phase of the 3 day training on Friday.

He said the Rescue Swimmer Course will be the first of its kind in St. Kitts and Nevis.

The training with the crew of the USNS Comfort to enhance emergency lifesaving skills began on Wednesday and included participation from eight St. Kitts and Nevis agencies and representatives of five countries; and provided a rigorous, multi-national exchange.
