Farmer to be tried for stabbing peacemaker

Kingston, Jamaica — A St Andrew farmer is to be tried in the Gordon Town Resident Magistrate’s Court for allegedly stabbing a man who was acting as a peacemaker in a dispute.

The date was set on Thursday when accused Aston Morrison, 47, appeared in court on a charge of unlawful wounding.

Allegations are that in May 2012, there was a dispute between the complainant’s friend and the accused.

It is further alleged that the complainant intervened to pacify the fight and was stabbed by the accused – a resident of Robertsfield in St Andrew – on his left shoulder with a knife.

When the accused man appeared in court, he was served with a medical report.

Morrison’s bail was extended for him to return to court on March 26, when the matter will be tried.
