Elections Called In Barbados For January 2022

Barbados, December 27, 2021 — Prime Minister Mia Amor Mottley calls elections for January 19, 2022.

Nomination Day is set for January 3, 2022.

“Barbados is special,” said the Prime Minister during an urgent address to the nation today, Boxing Day bank holiday.

Speaking for approximately 30 minutes, in the wrap-up, the prime minister delivered the news and blow to any opposition on the political landscape.

She said that the Electoral and Boundaries Commission will work assiduously to sort the logistics and ensure that Barbadians can go to the polls safely yet in their numbers. Out of caution, she said that the hope is for shorter lines and no gathering.
