Customs officers undergo M16 Weapon Training Course

ST. KITTS, SEPTEMBER 30TH 2010 (CUOPM) – Customs officers are undergoing a one week M16 Weapon Training Course.

Seventeen officers from St Kitts and from Nevis are attending the training programme which is conducted by the St. Kitts and Nevis Defence Force Coast Guard at the H.S. Hanley Training Room at Customs Headquarters, Bird Rock.

Customs officers are familiarizing themselves with the characteristics and operations of the M16-A1 Rifle.

They will also be taught all aspects of the basic principles of shooting and the application of fire.

Shooting exercises will be conducted at the range on Saturday 2nd and Sunday 3rd October.

“The aim is to enable all officers to achieve some competency with the various weapons that was taught by familiarization, shooting, zeroing, and conducting a qualification shoot,” said a news release from the office of the Comptroller of Customs.

It said that the training course is very timely and important to all officers who are presently in the Enforcement branch, and also to those who are stationed elsewhere within the department.
