Locally produced vegetables and fruits

Basseterre, St. Kitts, February 8th, 2021 (ZIZ News)  Ambassador of the Republic of China Taiwan to St. Kitts and Nevis His Excellency Tom Chi-Chiang Lee is encouraging the public to buy local and eat local.

Ambassador Lee said this has become increasingly important as the effects of the pandemic can be clearly seen.

Speaking at the Ministry of Agriculture’s Annual Review and Agenda 2021 Meeting, Ambassador Lee said in this regard, the Taiwan Technical Mission has been assisting in the promotion of backyard gardening.

“As covid19 is turning the world upside down, food sufficiency has become a very important matter. Our Technical Mission now is working with the ministry of agriculture to promote back yard gardening so St. Kitts and Nevis can reduce its dependence on imported food. In this regard I want to use this occasion to encourage our friends in St. Kitts and Nevis to buy local and eat local,” he said.

The agricultural cooperation between the Republic of China Taiwan and St. Kitts and Nevis dates back over 40 years, before the federation’s independence.

Ambassador Lee pledged Tawain’s continued support to the federation not only in agriculture but in areas such as health and information and communication technology as well.
