ATF to help in firearms trafficking

GunFilePhotoB(ZIZ) The US Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) has pledged to continue assisting the Caribbean Region in the fight against the illegal trafficking of firearms.

During a recent visit to assess the Police Force, ATF’S Caribbean Coordinator, Ollie Mier said based on the assessment, they have to figure out what is being done and how criminals are getting firearms into the Caribbean.

Legal regional advisor for the US Justice Department, Major Coleman says they will be working closely with the Commissioner of Police in this regard.

The team from the ATF this week completed an assessment of the St. Kitts and Nevis Police Force, in response to what’s being termed a ‘slight’ increase in small firearms.

The ATF assistance which comes at the request of the St. Kitts and Nevis Government is financed by the U.S. Government.
