“C” Means Competence in New TVET Tool Distribution Thrust

(EMU) –Students engaged in Technical and Vocational Training now have increased means by which they can increase their competence as several schools and institutions are receiving new tools and equipments to enhance their programmes.

TVET Coordinator Mr. Glen Edwards explained that the tool distribution is part of a larger programme geared at preparing young persons to enter the working world equipped to function.

He said the Ministry’s investment in learning institutions by a number of means including upgraded equipment is representative of its engagement with transforming the learning landscape to emphasize competence.

Mr. Edwards explained that the process will be ongoing and that equipment was distributed first in 2012 with electrical tools and the full outfitting of the electrical workshop at AVEC as well as the hospitality department at that same institution.

The coordinator said that schools are being held at a high level of accountability as far as maintaining an inventory of the new equipment. He added that a number of persons were contracted to make cupboards that will store the items.

The tripartite arrangement framing the new TVET policy includes the Ministry itself, The TVET Council and the involved Learning Institutions.
