Engineer criticizes “misleading” sign

An environmental engineer has condemned a recently erected billboard near the site of the new Basseterre High School that says “Coming Soon, Sewage Water, Protect Your Water”.

Recently there have been concerns that the new school will be built on an aquifer that supplies drinking water, but government officials have stated that studies show the construction will have no effect.

In a video posted online Engineer Anthony Ross QC said the new sign is misleading, and is nothing but propaganda.

He said right now there are numerous structures that are already built on an aquifer and from his experience he can state that the planned construction would have no effect.

He said he is prepared to engage with any member of the public in a discussion about their concerns about the new construction.
