Early morning 5.8 magnitude earthquake rocks federation

(ZIZ News) — At approximately 1:23 am, on Monday a 5.8 magnitude earthquake was felt across St. Kitts-Nevis.

According to the U.S. Geological Survey Centre the earthquake occurred at a latitude of 17.47 degrees N, longitude of 61.13 degrees W at a depth of 21.1 km.

The Geological Survey Unit further revealed that the centre of the tremor was located 83 km north east of St. John’s, Antigua and 171 km east of Basseterre, St. Kitts.

The centre said the quake was widely felt with reports coming from Guadeloupe up to St. Maarten.

There were no immediate reports of damage.
