SKELEC Prepared For Hurricane Danny

(ZIZ News) — Bertill Browne, an Engineer attached to the St. Kitts Electric Company (SKELEC), says the company has no intention of disconnecting electricity supply during the storm but, if the storm causes an outage, power would remain off.

In the meantime, SKELEC has assured that it is ready for Hurricane Danny.

“We had a meeting last Tuesday to discuss hurricane preparedness and a lot of what we do to prepare has already kicked in at certain times of the year, for example, earlier this year, we started tree cutting to clear the lines. That has been completed. The bulk of the hurricane plan kicks in at a Tropical Storm Warning,” he said.

Last week, SKELEC met with its employees to discuss hurricane preparedness.
